Tour Palmer History

The Palmer Museum of History and Art offers two different types of tours of Palmer’s Historic District. You can experience the story of Palmer and the Matanuska Colony by taking a guided tour given by a local, go at your own pace by taking a self-guided audio tour, or request a private tour for your group.

Audio Tours

Experience the Palmer story at your own pace. Rent an audio player and tour the historic district as your own guide! The tour includes 30 minutes of audio and is available in English, Korean, and Japanese. Audio players are rented for two hours and can be checked out at the front desk at the museum.

Guided Tours

Experience the story of Palmer and the Matanuska Colony with with a knowledgeable guide around the historic center of town, taking in beautiful downtown Palmer and its sweeping mountain vistas!

  • Monday – Saturday
  • Starts at 1:00 pm at the Museum
  • $10/person (visitor)
  • $8/person (Seniors, military, Alaska residents & children)
  • FREE (Museum member)
