Palmer Municipal Airport Runway and Land Use

The City of Palmer would like to clarify that there are currently no plans to extend the runway at the Palmer Municipal Airport.

It is important for the public to be aware that the land currently occupied by the golf course is federally obligated for aviation use. This means that, when the airport eventually runs out of developable land within its existing footprint, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will require the City to utilize the land it already owns, which is the golf course, for future airport development.

The City remains committed to transparency, public engagement, and careful planning as we move through the Master Plan process.
