Keith Barkwood grew up in suburban New Jersey where he joined the Roxbury Police Explorers during high school. When he turned 17, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was assigned to the security detachment of HMX-1, the helicopter squadron responsible for flying the President of the United States, serving 4 years in this capacity. After the Marines he certified as a Yoga instructor, studied under Sri Swami Satchidananda and spent a few years wandering around, seeing the country he served. First traveling all the other 49 states and after finally making his way north to Alaska in 2004, he realized he was home. He served 10 years in the Merchant Marine, sailing tall ships on the Atlantic and tug boats on Prince William Sound. Keith joined the Palmer Reserve in 2017 and was hired full time May 2018. He attended the Anchorage Police Academy, Class 18-1, graduating in Nov 2018. Officer Barkwood serves as the School Resource Officer assigned to Palmer High School.
