Mission Statement

To professionally conduct the office of the City Clerk in a manner that ensures an effective and transparent bridge between citizens, local governing bodies and other government agencies.

Areas of Responsibility

The City Clerk's Office operates as a separate entity from other city departments. The general duties of the City Clerk's Office are:

  • Administers City of Palmer elections.
  • Publication and Noticing of City Council meeting agendas and packets.
  • City's archivist ensureing proper processing and preservation of Council legislation and city records.
  • Research and prepare ordinances and resolutions in conjunction with the City Attorney.
  • Maintains original ordinances and resolutions and provides for codification of ordinances in the Palmer Municipal Code.
  • Manage Public Records Requests.
  • Serves as the Records Manager, which includes managing City records, developing the retention schedules, and administering the procedure for inventory, storage, destruction, and preservation of City records.
  • Develops and manages the City Council's and City Clerk's office budget.
  • Serves as the Public Information Officer and oversees the City's social media sites.
  • Acts as parliamentary adviser to the Council.
  • Administers the Appeals to Hearing Officers process.
  • Administers the Boards and Commission appointment process.
  • Research and report findings to Council on general matters.
