Lucas Szipszky began his career in public safety at the age of 17 when he joined the Explorer Post for the Central Mat-Su Fire Department. After turning 18, he became a State Certified Firefighter I and an Engineer. He was a member of the Palmer Emergency Medical Services; eventually becoming an Emergency Medical Technician III and the Assistant Chief. In 2005, he put himself through the Tanana Valley Campus Police Academy in Fairbanks, graduating as Valedictorian. After completing the academy, he worked as an Emergency Dispatcher with the Palmer Police Department for 2 ½ years before being hired by the Skagway Police Department as a Patrol Officer. In 2009, he returned to the Palmer Police Department.  He was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in June of 2015.  Sergeant Szipszky also serves as a Field Training Officer, Datamaster Supervisor, and Glock Armorer for the department.  Sergeant Szipszky was assigned to Investigations in December of 2019.
